How many film festivals are there in Metro Detroit? We got Detroit Docs, the internationally successful Ann Arbor Film Festival, and many more themed film festivals throughout the year. And now there is the Detroit Windsor International Film Festival (DWIFF) which takes place from June 26 through June 29.
The Inaugural 2008 Detroit Windsor International Film Festival takes place on June 26-29, 2008 at venues all over Detroit and Windsor, including the campuses of Wayne State University, College for Creative Studies and the University of Windsor, and the Scarab Club, the DIA, Detroit Public Library, the Michigan Historical Museum, the Charles Wright African American Museum and teh Majestic Theatre. Some of these venues are film screenings, some are for parties. But they’re all in it because we believe in our city and region! For four days, we’re going to be the center of the entertainment industries.
To help kick things off early and get the word out there is going to be a party on Tuesday, February 12 at the Magic Stick. It’s also a fund raising event and media preview party.
There are many other film festivals in other parts of Michigan. For example the Muskegon Film Festival, East Lansing Film Festival, Central Michigan International Film Festival in Mount Pleasant, Flint Film Festival, Traverse City Film Festival, Arab Film Festival in Dearborn, and several festivals in Grand Rapids.
