Milwaukee Junction

05.16.07 | technician | In history, tourism, new center

The Ford Piquette Avenue plant was recently featured in the Free Press. It’s the birthplace of the Model T, also known as the Tin Lizzie,  but hadn’t been used for years and was in danger of being lost until a few years ago the Model T Automotive Heritage Complex, Inc (T-Plex, for short) stepped up, forming itself, and raise money to purchase a building and preserve it. The area around it, Milwaukee Junction, had been deteriorating for many years before that of the organization is helping to stabilize it and today you’ll find residential lofts in Milwaukee Junction as well as does like the Detroit Hardware Co. and art galleries like the Tangent Gallery.
